A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That

One of the first quilts I ever had to figure out how to long arm. This one was for a wonderful woman who had served in Japan. Her husband served in the Netherlands as full time Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints missionaries. This was to serve as a reminder of their love when we had to say good bye to her husband from this mortal plane.

The front of this quilt show a beautiful array of Japanese umbrellas. The border is a more traditional seigaiha pattern symbolizing a peaceful sea, quiet strength and good fortune. The backing to this was sights around the Netherlands in a Delft blue color. It was long armed with hearts.

Longarm is a term used for a technique:
Longarm quilting is the process by which a longarm sewing machine is used to sew together a quilt top, quilt batting and quilt backing into a finished quilt.
